This privacy policy applies to ගීතිකා සහ බයිබල් පද (Geethika saha Bible Pada), also described as Sinhala Hymns & Bible Verses. It explains the information used for reading hymns and Bible verses, saving and sharing content, prayer requests and hymn error reports. Standard reading does not require you to register or provide a name or email address. Optional community features use an internal Firebase Authentication identifier.
Prayer requests and identifiers
Submitting a prayer request, marking a request as prayed or sending a hymn error report creates or reuses an internal user identifier through Firebase Authentication. The submitted name or anonymous selection, title, message, category, timestamps and review status are sent to Cloud Firestore. Administrators review submissions. Approved prayer titles, messages, categories, display names (unless Anonymous is selected), dates and prayer counts are visible to other app users. Internal identifiers are used by the service for administration and reactions. Choosing Anonymous hides your display name; it does not remove the internal identifier held by the service. This identifier also supports prayer reactions and the daily submission limit.
Information you submit
Prayer requests may include health or personal information. Do not include phone numbers, addresses or sensitive details you do not want made public. Do not submit another person’s private information without their permission. Hymn error reports send the relevant hymn information, report content, user identifier and timestamp for administrator review.
Service providers and data recipients
Google Firebase Authentication handles internal user identifiers, and Cloud Firestore stores app content, prayer requests, reactions, submission-limit records and hymn error reports. Cloudflare R2 delivers images and audio. These providers process the data needed to operate their services and may receive connection information such as IP addresses and request times. Administrators receive submissions for moderation and corrections; other users receive approved prayer content. Provider infrastructure may process information outside your country. Provider policies describe their own processing and safeguards.
Information stored on your device
The following information is stored on your device to operate the app and make it easier to return to content.
- Identifiers of saved hymns and verses, and the times they were saved.
- Settings such as appearance and font size.
- Retrieved hymns, Bible verses, update information and temporary media copies.
- Files you download or prepare for sharing.
Search and internet connections
Searches for hymns and verses are processed against content on your device. Network requests are sent to external content delivery services when retrieving new content and media. These services may receive technical information such as your internet address, the requested file and the time of the request.
How information is used
Information on your device is used to display your saved collection, apply your chosen settings and load content faster. Network requests are needed to retrieve content. Server-held submissions are used to review and publish prayer requests, record prayer reactions, enforce the daily submission limit and investigate hymn errors. The current app does not include advertising, Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics SDKs.
Retention and deletion
Removing an item from your saved list removes its saved marker; it does not necessarily delete downloaded files or content copies. You can clear data through your device’s app storage controls or uninstall the app. Exported files must be removed separately. Some information may be restored depending on your device’s backup settings. Technical logs maintained by external services are subject to those services’ retention rules.
Server data and deletion
Prayer requests, reports, internal authentication identifiers and submission-limit records are stored separately from device data. Clearing app storage or uninstalling does not delete these server records. The current app has no in-app control to delete a submitted request, report or internal authentication identity. Turning off your prayer reaction removes that reaction record and updates the prayer count. A fixed retention period and a process for deleting other server-held data have not yet been confirmed. Copies of published content saved or shared by other users cannot be removed from their devices by this app.
Your choices and sensitive information
You can read content without submitting a prayer or report. Prayer requests can reveal religious beliefs and any personal or health details you choose to include. Use Anonymous to hide your display name from other readers, and avoid including sensitive details in the message itself. Anonymous does not make your submission untraceable to its internal identifier. You can remove saved items, change settings and choose whether to download or share files. Required disclosures and permission prompts must be shown within the app when a feature needs them; this policy does not replace those prompts.
Security and permissions
Firebase connections use encrypted transport, and the configured media delivery address uses HTTPS. The Android app declares internet and network-state permissions; its current manifest does not request access to contacts, precise location, camera or microphone. Use your device’s lock and security settings. No storage or communication method is completely risk-free. You can choose whether to save, download or share content, and use your device’s network and backup controls.
Website contact messages
When you submit the website contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to Formspree for delivery to our contact inbox. We use this information to respond to your inquiry. Formspree also processes technical request information and submissions according to its privacy policy. Contact messages are not published as prayer requests. You can contact us by email to ask about a message or request its deletion. Formspree copies and email records are separate from mobile app data; the developer’s retention period for contact correspondence has not yet been confirmed. Please do not include sensitive personal information.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when app features or data use change. Check the update date shown here. Additional notices or consent will be provided where required by applicable law.
Privacy contact
For privacy questions or concerns about a prayer request or hymn report, contact the app developer. Include only the details needed to identify the content, such as its title and approximate submission date; avoid sending additional sensitive information.
